"While dodging the busy crowds at one of the most visited castles in France. I came across a much needed break and pulled out my trusty medium format camera. With little time to spare before the bustling tourists started flooding my frame, I snapped this beautiful sunbeam hitting the castle floor. This shot made the hauling around of a 30lb camera bag worth the effort."

2009 Charity Desk Calendar - March Photo
Sunrise at Arenal
Frank writes:
This is why it pays to stay in a volcano view room in the Tabacon Resort in Costa Rica. If you don't get this shot very early in the morning chances are that it will be completely covered by clouds. At night however, there is a good chance that while sitting on your balcony you will see the glowing orange lava working its way down the sides of the volcano. Another awesome perk are the hot springs flowing up from the ground, heated geothermally by the lava beneath the surface of the earth. All this ensconced in what would be perceived by the mind of anyone as the ultimate tropical paradise.
A unique shot from a unique part of the world. Well done, Frank!

2009 Charity Desk Calendar - January Photo
"Twilight over the Pier" by Sarah Helding
Here is what the Sarah had to say about this photo:
"It was the heart of winter in my home state of Wisconsin and an enormous storm was brewing. A friend and I decided to escape the foot of snow that was due and, on a whim, headed south for a week. Our final destination: Pensacola Beach, Florida. After two days of driving through torrential rains and tornado warnings, we arrived. It was around 6pm and seventy-five degrees so we grabbed some sandwiches and sat back in lawn chairs on the beach outside our hotel to watch the sun set over this small pier."
The Board of Directors chose this photo because of the vibrant colors captured by Sarah. As any photographer will tell you, sunset and sunrise photos can be challenging - great job Sarah!

2009 Charity Desk Calendar
Our 2009 Charity Desk Calendar is almost ready and we are very excited with how the finished product is coming. New for this year we will be creating a Google map to plot the locations of where each photograph was taken. Also new this year, each photographer will be posting to this blog on the month their photo is featured. We think this is an excellent way to learn more about the photo, the location, and the photographer.
Check back soon for purchase information!
